A central Alberta community that lives up to its motto of "Living at its Best," Gibbons is an historic town with modern amenities and a wide range of first-rate real estate.

Situated along the southern banks of the Sturgeon River less than 40 kilometers northeast of Edmonton, Gibbons is a popular hometown for both families and singles who prefer the serenity of the suburbs over the bustle of the big city. Largely residential – best to keep your work life and your home life separate, right? – Gibbons is conveniently located a stone’s throw from the economic hubs of Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, and the Industrial Heartland.

The bulk of real estate in Gibbons consists of single-family houses, which are available in a wide range of styles and price ranges. The city also has a limited (but growing) number of townhouses, rowhouses, and duplexes to choose from. Featuring historic homes that sprouted up pre-1946, an abundance of homes from the ‘70s and ‘80s, and plenty of brand-new, ultramodern residences as well, Gibbons has a dream home for one and all.

You'll need your own set of wheels to get around Gibbons, which doesn't operate a public transit system. Although some areas, like downtown, are pedestrian-friendly, the vast majority of Gibbons' 7 square kilometers are vehicle-dependent.

With their close proximity to Edmonton, residents of Gibbons are never more than half an hour from an Oilers game, the Royal Alberta Museum, the downtown Arts District, or a countless number of historic sites, eateries, and nightlife venues.

But that doesn’t mean you have to cross into “Festival City” to have fun. Gibbons is home to many family-oriented amenities, including 10 parks, 7 playgrounds, a curling rink, ice arena, and numerous sports fields. Just 2 miles north of the border, meanwhile, you’ll find the world-renowned Goose Hummock Golf Resort. Other facilities in Gibbons include the Echo Glen Fish Pond, a skateboard park, spray park, and the multipurpose Jack Hogg Sports Grounds. A must-see for kids and adults of all ages, Jurassic Forest is a startlingly realistic, 40-acre prehistoric preserve situated a few minutes to the north.

With a small town vibe and big city amenities, Gibbons is a town that offers its residents the best of both worlds.
